Today’s card: Queen of Rods

I thought it could be interesting to pick a card to expand on as a regular feature on this blog. ‘Today’s card’ will be randomly selected from my shuffled deck (either by me or someone close by) on a regular basis, providing an opportunity to delve further into the meanings and stories behind the chosen card.

Starting off – Today’s card is: The Queen of Rods – she was selected from the deck by my husband, and I do think she is the perfect card to begin this exploratory journey :)

Queen of Rods

Traditional keywords for this card include:

  • Warmth
  • Vibrant
  • Motherly
  • Exuberant
  • Creative
  • Determined
  • Generous
  • Balanced

Voicing my visual interpretation – this is what she has to say:

I am the Queen of Rods – strong, independent and highly creative. My energy, confidence and contagious optimism will inspire you. I speak to your warm and motherly side, while urging you to channel your energy, remain focussed, and accomplish what you set out to do.

What does it mean?

This is a strong and positive woman, she may represent you, an aspect of your personality … or someone who has a strong, positive influence on you (mother, sister, friend). She is a warm, nurturing and motherly figure;  a good listener and a spiritual healer who knows how to read and comfort those around her. She is also independent and determined to achieve her goals.

As a card she may be describing you, or asking you to embrace creative possibilities from within, or if offered by someone close to you.

The visual story

Yellow is often associated with the suit of Rods and I have incorporated plenty of this warm and optimistic colour in both her cape and the sunflowers. The lizard represents creativity, as it climbs up to whisper new and fascinating ideas in her ear. Her red hair is symbolic of the determination she possesses; she is looking straight ahead, eager to meet, convince and inspire whatever comes her way.

She has spiritual insight and earthbound calmness, which enables her to listen, comfort and act with intuitive knowledge. Above all, I wanted her optimism, warmth and independent nature to show in the card, as to me, that is what she represents.
