There is something magical about Ravens; these stark, black, beautiful birds – associated with such wisdom and ‘other-worldliness’. I truly enjoyed incorporating them in my artwork for Nine Lives Tarot, where they figure as wise guides in a number of cards (mainly suit of Swords):
One morning, not long after I had completed the artwork for the cards, I looked out into the backyard as a large raven landed on the fence. The big black bird sat there looking directly at me, almost as if it came to acknowledge the part Ravens play in my deck …
We gazed at each other for what felt like ages, before it slowly cocked its head and flew off …
As far as special moments go, this one has sparkles around the edges!
